Portrait Session at Larz Anderson Park Share
This summer, I've been creating a series of children's portraits at the Larz Anderson Park located in Brookline. It's a charming park with a little something for everyone. For children, the expansive grounds offer plenty of room to run and an intriguing pond with ducks, koi and frogs. Warning: there is a high risk of wet feet. For adults, there are the beautifully landscaped gardens, surprising architectural details and the adjoining Auto Museum.
I find it an enchanting location for taking pictures or enjoying a beautiful summer day. One recent session was with little B.
He is a die hard Red Sox Fan! Without a doubt the most serious 3 year old fan I've met. He has created the Red Sox song in which he recites the starting line-up! Chris joined me this day and together we had a great time chatting about our favorite team. B kept us on our toes. The best was when he was talking about Josh Beckett, the ace pitcher for the Sox. B quietly informed us that most of the time he pitches but sometimes he hits home runs. This does sound unusual for a Red Sox pitcher whose spot in the batting line-up is filled by the designated hitter. However, they had recently played in a National League park where the pitchers must take their own at bats. Josh Beckett did indeed hit a home run. This is a why I love working with children.
During our portrait session, we began with some pictures in the outfit we wore to the park. B was excited to change into the baseball uniform and begin playing. I do owe Chris an extra thank you for helping out on this session. The baseball came dangerously close to his head several times.
